In the last couple weeks, I’ve been working on a personal ID project – helping a close girlfriend redecorate her house.
The house that she ‘inherited’ was previously all kinds of girly with purple everything. Purple walls, purple sofa, fake purple flowers everywhere and even purple flower pictures and paintings on the wall! (Thinking about it still makes me puke a little in my mouth. Ugh.) Anyway, that’s worthy of another post. In the meantime, I just wanna highlight how I have nothing against the colour purple.
In fact, in this country home, purple is extensively used alongside the colour yellow. And it’s looks great!
The colour theme is quite unusual. It’s so easy to screw up the purple and yellow hues and have your combo come out garish instead of quaint. Yet this is what this home managed to achieve. It’s cosy, quaint and so, so charming!
LOVE the whole house although I would make a couple changes. I’d include just a little more yellow into the bedroom because it’s looking a tad too girly for my liking, and I’m not digging an entirely purple bathroom. But maybe that’s just me and my own prejudices.

Am digging MOST of the results. But I think the abundance of natural sunlight in this home helps achieve the results. In a home that sorely lacks decent lighting, the overall look wouldn’t probably tickle your fancy. Eek. I nearly typed fanny.
Accents of purple and yellow rock but i’m thinking in my case, purple just isn’t my thing.
